OK, sounds good. I'll wait for you to post some code or something. I tried doing that with the sql error earlier after I read something similar in a different thread and it produced a different error- so I reverted back. My main priority is to be able to add and edit sites..

I don't have a perfect environment to test this thoroughly due to other projects, but it should work let me know if you run into a problem.. and of course backups of the altered tables ( *links *temp ) is advisable

note, you may have changed the mysql table name prefixes, so you may not have a "phplinks2_links" and "phplinks2_temp" and would need to edit the ALTER TABLE lines to the correct table names.

OK, I understand the puropse of this code and what I'm supposed to edit and why.

But I don't know where this code gets copied and pasted to.

Like I said, I'm not much of a coder, so you have to really dumb these instructions down a notch if I'm to do this..

The file contains a series of MySQL commands. You can run them on your DewNewPHPLinks database a variety of ways, but most people use a program called PHPMyAdmin likely your web host provides it through your control panel.

Using PHPMyAdmin, after selecting the database that your DewNewPHPLinks installation uses, click the SQL tab in the right/main window. You can copy paste the mysql queries into the form there.

OK, I ran that, the tables were created, it worked. But I still can't add any sites. Everything is acting the same. The original database that this came with had 9 tables. Now there are 12 tables because of the three we just added. I'm trying to upgrade it from the original phplinks prior to the first Dew New which came with 9 tables to a Dew Newphplinks that also had 9 tables.

How can I check which version of Dew New I have? Assume that I have the last version of phplinks prior to any work you did- for my database.

Plus the three tables we just added to it which I don't think are related to this version of Dew New I have.

The first 2 lines of the mysql file were alter table lines. You may have needed to correct the table names.

From what I've read, the most recent version of "phplinks" dates back to the year 2000, afterwards it was taken over and renamed to NewPHPLinks and quickly abandoned after it's initial release. DewNewPHPLinks is based on a debugged copy of Newphplinks.

I'm sorry to say, but upgrading phplinks to a recent version of DewNewPHPLinks is not a task for someone without at least some php and mysql knowledge.

the phplinks tables may be lacking more columns than I am aware of, since I've never actually looked at the phplinks code
