Of course there is a way.. There is always a way

The problem with features like this is the there is such a variety of server environments, it would be difficult for me to come up with a true captcha routine that runs on the various server configurations in use today (not that it couldn't be done if I had some help)

Also.. keep in mind.. I am only one person with a terrible habit of eating food and living indoors. I can only devote so much time writing code just to give it away while getting nothing in return.

I do have a compromise though..

Soon I'll be posting more downloads, the first of which will be add-ons to the current script.. However, be advised due to the time invested in these add-ons, I may need to make them commercially available.. as in charge money for downloads.. while I detest that idea, I detest the idea of being homeless even more. Of course if I were getting any Paypal donations (as in.. any i have gotten 2 to date for the entire lifespan of dew-code.com) I might be more likely to release them as GPL.

Some add-ons I'll be polishing and releasing soon ...
Captcha:
Instead of using GD/imagemajic libraries that may or may not be compiled into PHP, graphics are stored in mysql blobs and randomly fetched, thus avoiding server compatability issues.

Another take on Captcha that I've been trying to hash out is an ajax solution.. "Drag this item and drop it on one of these 3 items".. So you could, for example have a total of 6 pictures.. First 3 items a carrot, a baseball and a cane then 3 animals, a rabbit, a mouse, and a horse. The caption reads "feed the carrot to the rabbit" .. Dragging and dropping the carrot onto the rabbit allows the form to be submitted. While I think this is pretty dang neat, it has several limitations I need to work around.

Banlist:
With this add-on, you can enter 4 types of bans, String, E-Mail, URL and IP
The string type will likely be the most used, for example a string banlist entry of "viagra" prevents submissions with that term in them anywehere, the URL, the site name, the description etc. I'm working on getting banned string terms to be stricken from popular searches as well.

Reports:
A routine to show stats on outbound clicks, detailing what IPs and user agents are clicking which sites. Reports are up to the second and can span any valid date range for which there is data.

So.. to summarize. I love open source. I love helping you to use and customize it, but I hate the fact I still have bills to pay.
