retrieve password function not working 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Back from the distant past...

Looks like I am using v.2.0.1.0a

Went to a friend's site where a link to mine is posted, clicked "Click here to update your listing", clicked the "click here to be emailed your password hint" link, and it seemed to just load the main directory page. My password was not sent to me.

Does this work for other people? Is there a known fix?

Thanks

Sounds like something that was addressed in the previous Dew-code.com forum...not sure I know how to resolve this one - Dewed?

I'm somewhat embarrassed to say, this is almost certainly an issue with register globals. I vaguely remmember discovering the related variables were not properly assigned when testing the current beta version.

Looking at the related file..

/include/lost.php

The current version has this near the top , adding it to your friend's version should correct the issue
Code:

<?php // ******************************************************************* // include/lost.php // ******************************************************************* if (is_numeric($_GET['ID'])){$ID=$_GET['ID'];} $Email = $_POST['Email']; $get_password = $_POST['get_password'];

Hi- I am brand new here on this board. I have a site that did not come with a lost password script- how easy would it be to take an open source code and upload it to my website- I forgot my password, so I am logged out of my (domain)/siteadmin page?
Not sure where else to ask for assistance- the programmer is in India and doesn't seem to care...I know, will make such a purchase again! Help!? Links to such code, or help would be absolutely wonderful!

This forum is primarily about the open source script DewNewPHPLinks, although I'd like it to be about open source coding in general.

I'm not sure I fully understand though. You lost the password to.. your whole account ? or the admin password to the DewNewPHPLinks admin pages ?

Can you use FTP to login to your server? If so, the admin page of DewNewPHPLinks is protected by the presence of a file named /admin/.htaccess renaming that file removes the password prompt.

You could also review the contents of that file to at least see the user name, possibly that would remind you of the password.

If you are locked out of your account's control panel, FTP etc, I can only advise you to contact your web host. Proving to them you are the rightful account owner will likely require faxing in a photo ID
