Thank you Dewed for transforming phpLinks into Dew-NewPHPLinks. You sure stepped it up a couple notches.
On 09/18/2005 I registered
www.premierwebguide.com. Immediately thereafter Dew-NewPHPLinks was installed and it has run flawlessly ever since. Now as a graphics artist I rank myself with a D- grade, however I was brave and did do a completely new and different theme for the site. I've themed it out a couple times and it really isn't that hard when keeping the structure. (Working on the code the other night it was like Duh... I finially figured why some of my boxes are out of line. Will fix that soon.)
Early '07 I started getting bombbarded by autobots and possibly human spam. Since I've have problems with VV code on my server before I felt that was not a solution. It didn't take that much validation coding to remove 99% of the spam. I have no idea how to solve the junk ones who follow all the rules except that they use sjgapiowg names. There is not as many of them yet.
I created a small mod to modify the description and keywords dependent upon what category was being viewed. It isn't the fancest thing in the world but the job gets done, automatically.
The Premier Web Guide was created with the idea that I could put some of my clients in a directory using carefully crafted subjects and wording. Mind you this is not like listing every page or item they have, but to ensure specific subjects and pages received special on topic attention. I have gone out to find good/quality sites to populate some of the categories. All submitted sites are manually viewed. Sometimes I correct the categories for them (and on a couple occassions created fitting categories when it was a good site).
And of all things, I have received more linkshare banner ad sales from the 48-300 humans who visit the directory each month than from all my other sites (including my joke site) combined.
For years I had wondered about the phpLinks script. I downloaded it and compared the code before before writing this tonight. Now I know the differences.
I now have 4 Dew-NewPHPLinks instances running. The others can be discussed at another time in the "Sites running Dew-NewPHPLinks" category.
I am not sure how long it has been since I was snopping around here. I know you suffered a tramatic cvs loss. Please accept my condolences.
I am really happy to see a new site here. I rarely join forums much less software forums. I am now proud member of Dew-NewPHPLinks and osCommerce(Community Supporter) forum. I hope that my posts will always will solve more problems than they create.

This is a pretty long hello. Have a great day folks.
