Thats a nice collection of sites you have there.

The previews are sort of outside your control. Thumbshots.org will pick them up eventually but I suspect they generate them based on how many requests they get for a particular site.

As for bots and spammers registering, there is an add on in the downloads section to add captcha to the add site and reviews pages. Also the current version, 2.1b has this feature built in.
