Link Check - MANUAL link 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
As long as I'm stirring up a ruckus tonight, I just noticed that the MANUAL link on the link check page does not work. The one for promopeddler.com goes to http://directory.promopeddler.com/index.php?show=about a "multiple choice" error page and the others all point to http:/// (three slashes, nothing following).

Thanks

Whoops. Maybe that's normal when they don't enter any Rlink URL.

If so, sorry!

I just noticed that the Rlink to promopeddler is what's causing the 300 error when I click MANUAL.

I used to work for them, since then, they have relocated their link exchange.

300 response is from their Apache setup, a slightly more obliging 404.. "gee we couldn't find exactly what you asked for.. is one of these close enough?"

Except in this case, I don't think there is much else to select from.

I certainly mean them no ill will, but you aren't doing me any favors by keeping them in your directory.. or their banner for that matter.. yet another reason I really need to get the next version of this script out.

Re:Link Check - MANUAL link :: LINK CHECK 2.0 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 3
Alright now, I downloaded the new Link Check 2.0, renamed my 2 old admin files and uploaded the 2 new Link Check PHP files and I am left with a few questions...

I am noticing the on the column titled "RLink Status" there are 3 possible outcomes..."Rlink not found", "R-LInk Page not entered.", "Rlink found". I undestand the "RLink found" but what are the other 2 ("Rlink not found", "R-LInk Page not entered." describing, what do they "really" mean I guess?

Also, on sites which display "Rlink not found" there is a hot link/text link "R-LInk Page" to the right of the site's URL, when clicked on this URL opens a new window which appears to be the frame with the same range of sites.

Just out of curiosity too I noticed there is a bit of text at the top which reads "CURL libraries are installed Using them. " what's up with that?

(not sure if this was the correct place to give feedback on the Link check 2.0 updates)...???

"R-LInk Page not entered"
There is no URL for your reciprocal link entered.. it is "htttp://"

"Rlink not found"
A reciprocal link was not found on the page specified

The "R-Link Page" link *should* be taking you to where your reciprocal link is supposed to be, so you can quickly see if your link does exist, and just wasn't detected

The script now checks to see if your server has CURL libraries available to PHP, and if so uses them. If CURL is not available, it uses the old fopen method. Using CURL to fetch several remote web pages is roughly 10 times faster than the fopen method. One of the primary complaints about the previous link check was it was just painfully slow (eg; fopen) and would often generate "execution time exceeded" errors when attempting to check more than a few sites per run.

oh, and if CURL was not detected on your server you would see something like "CURL libraries are not installed. Using clunky fopen method "
