Our site has been up for a while now and we are doing all the normal stuff to get search engines running etc, but they are not listing the links..

Does this script work on the pages or the page content? ie what is in the php files compairer to what the websites information on it?

thanks.. just trying to work out why we are not appearing on search engines

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. As for what PHP file creates the content, it is the very large /includes/functions.php which uses the draw_sites function to create each entry.

I wish all you had to do was install this script somewhere, slap a link to your own site and suddenly rocket to the top of the search engines. As you've found, it isn't that simple.

I added "SEF" to the script's name to indicate that search engines can easily navigate through the script itself. Do a Google search on "site:http://www.motorsportlinks.co.uk/" and you will see Googlebot has pretty much indexed the whole thing, and no doubt followed the outbound links it discovered. Now if that site had more page rank, it would trickle more page rank to the sites you link to.

BUT.. to rank well in search engines you need backlinks.. ok you knew that, but not just any backlink will do. Google in particular has gotten very good at detecting and disregarding sites whose sole purpose is to funnel page rank.

The script I offer isn't a magic bullet in SEO terms. There simply is no such thing other than quality content and thousands of organic backlinks from a variety of quality sites.

eg; organic backlinks
Not automated.
Hundreds or thousands do not appear over night.
Come from a variety of sites on a wide range of IP addresses.
Do not use identical anchor text
Come from quality sites whose sole purpose is NOT to funnel page rank.

Sorry to ramble, but it is sort of a touchy subject for me. Likely 80% of my freelance work is undoing the damage some "SEO expert" has done to my client's site. I guess I should be thankful, but it is much harder to remove a Google penalty than it is to create it.
