Well, I turned on Show All Characters and again they were identical (I used the Compare PlugIn to be sure).

I tried removing the last CRLF and uploaded and that didn't help either.

From phpMyAdmin I see the following for me the server...

MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

My ISP is Dreamhost but I really can't tell you what they're running on or with. I know they're running Apache, but they've disabled being able to see what version.

Blood type is B+.

You can get all sorts of info with a 3 line PHP script

Hrm.. not seeing anything unusual

I'm still not entirely sure why the captcha routine doesn't work, but I suspect it has to do with the default character sets used by MySQL. My captcha table (the one used when I developed the routine) uses latin1 , while just about everyone these days uses UTF-8

I suppose this is incentive to get with the times and convert everything to UTF-8.. meanwhile I've been struggling to find inspiration and motivation for the complete re-write/rename of Dew-Dex, which I have a foundation for, but not much else. If only I din't have this pesky need to eat, I could spend more time on it.
